Greetings friends!

I hope this week's newsletter finds you well.

First of all, apologies to those of you who had technical difficulties opening the links in last week's newsletter. Sounds like it was a tech issue with the Email Service Provider. πŸ™ƒ If you weren't able to access the links in last week's newsletter, including the intro to Mary Catherine, you can find them here.

What's New on My Sewing Table

It's been a hot minute since I wrote an update of what's new on my sewing table. What with releasing a new quilt pattern, fabric collection, and teaching at Garden of Quilts, I haven't had much time to get to something new. That time has finally come!

Click below to check out the latest projects, notions, etc in my brand new post:

Conquer Half Rectangle Triangles + Free Squishy Stars Quilt Pattern

If Half Rectangle Triangles (HRTs) make you nervous, you’re not alone. (They make me nervous too!) Guest contributor Ashlee of Crinkly Quilts shares how she went from intimidated beginner to a HRT pro, thanks to a few clever tricks (and a handy trimming template!).

She’s walking us step-by-step through her process for making perfect HRTs β€” plus, she’s sharing a free quilt pattern, Squishy Stars, that combines HRTs and HSTs into a funky, modern star design you’ll love. 🌟

Fun Finds on the Web - Patchwork Pumpkins

I'm such a sucker for pumpkins in all shapes and sizes. Great and small. Here's a bunch of patchwork pumpkin ideas - many of them free, and also great for using up scraps! Perfect for a fun little bit of fall sewing creativity and play time.

Minki Kim has a free pumpkin potholder pattern with video tutorial to walk you through the steps!

Check out this gorgeous "painted" pumpkin pillow tutorial made with scraps by Krista Moser.

I've got a patchwork pumpkin block + pillow or tablerunner pattern here.

So there's a little peek at what's been going on in our neck of the woods figuratively. And here's a peek at the literal woods in the Utah mountains near our home. The aspens at their peak fall glory. There was an orange/pink color in some of the Aspen leaves this year that I don't remember seeing before. It was absolutely stunning!

This year I created a name for the emotion that I realized I've been feeling intensely the last few weeks.

FOMOOF = Fear Of Missing Out On Fall.

Fall comes early in the mountains which means it leaves earlier there too. I've been trying to find time to get there as often as I could. I think the peak has probably passed there. I'm so glad I could take the time to soak it up as much as I did, even if sewing machines and other responsibilities were neglected for a bit. Fortunately there more Fall color still to enjoy closer to home.

So much of life and the world feels heavy right now. Not just current events but some dear friends close to our hearts are in the literal battle of their lives (stupid cancer) and it's been sobering to watch.

I know I'm starting to sound like a broken record, and you didn't subscribe to this newsletter as a nature documentary, but honestly, I'm grateful for opportunities to get outside during this beautiful season, breathe fresh air, and gain perspective.

One of my favorite John Muir quotes sums up perfectly the healing and rejuvenation that comes for me from being outside:

"Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves." - John Muir

Just getting into nature doesn't solve all of the worlds' (or my friends') problems, but it does give one the opportunity to take a deep breath and somehow a gain clearer perspective on how to move forward and hopefully help.

I hope you can get outside where ever you are too. And maybe some good pumpkin spice or maple flavored treats as well. πŸ˜‰πŸ‚

Have a great week! Thanks again for stopping by.

xo,

Amy
