35 Favorite Christmas Quilt Ideas + What's NEWHello Quilting Friends! Welp, the one bright spot about the sky getting dark so darn early now is that the holidays are right around the corner. What kind of Christmas maker/quilter are you? In the past I've typically been a "do-all-Christmas-things-after-Thanksgiving" kind of person. But you know what? This week I was suddenly struck by the mood to pull out and work on Christmas projects. And maybe some of you are too, so let's talk Christmas quilts! Let me start by saying, I LOVE Christmas Quilts. They're some of my favorite kids of quilts. I’ve updated this list of some of my favorite Christmas 🎄Quilt patterns. There is something for everyone’s style from intricate to super-simple patchwork squares. Whether you’re looking for a new project, or just want to enjoy looking at some pretty Christmas quilts, I’ve got lots of inspiration for you!
What's New On My Sewing Table for NovemberNow that we're in a new month I'm sharing the latest edition of "What's new on my sewing table" which includes a "squirrel" project (meaning a total distraction that is too addicting) and some fun Jane Austen and other projects using machine embroidery. I've found it really helps me to focus on keeping track of projects I've started when I share what I'm working on each month. So thanks for being my accountability partners. I hope it also shows that I've got my own WIPs, UFO's* and long term projects. I'm not getting anything done overnight, that's for sure! Click below to see everything that's new!

This morning I got to attend part of the Sewtopia sewing retreat happening in Salt Lake City this weekend and share a few of my quilts. It was inspiring to be around so many creative women who were stitching and chatting away. The happy, creative energy in that room was palpable! It made me realize how rarely I've gone to retreats or sewing events over the past few years. (I'm such a homebody lately.) It motivated me to do something like that again soon. Thanks so much to those who came to say hello, held and folded quilts, bought a pattern, helped me pack up after, etc. Some were faces that I have met in years past and some were new friends I met today. I wish my aging brain had the capacity to be quick at remembering names so thank you for reintroducing yourselves. I truly loved it! Here's my little quilting miracle from the last week. I've been trying to finish up my Twin size Scandi Heart quilt and get the pattern done ... 😅 (You guys, this pattern is kicking my backside a little bit. I wanted to include two layout options and it's making it so much trickier to write. Why do I do this to myself? So thanks for your patience all of you who have expressed interest. It really is coming...) Okay, but here is the fun part. I've been stymied trying to find just the right back for the quilt top. As a large Twin size quilt, it is bigger than most quilts I've made - therefore needing a bigger backing. I was determined to use something from my stash - even if it meant piecing a back from multiple prints. And then: the PERFECT print was found. I bought this Scandinavian folk art-inspired print on an after Christmas clearance sale probably 10 years ago. (If you look carefully at the selvage it says 2014!) And, to top it all off, I had the exact amount of yardage to piece the perfect size back. The quilting gods were smiling down on me. For as excited as I am about this match made in heaven, I'm also feeling a little conflicted about the size and scope of my fabric stash. 😅 I definitely have some borderline hoarder tendencies in my genes (mostly just the kind where you save stuff "in case you need it later for just the right thing"). While I'm happy to say that this was an example of that working out perfectly in my favor, I'm also wanting to cleanout both my fabric stash and my "hoarder genes" and live lighter on the earth. I'm trying to lean farther into the "use it or donate it" frame of mind. Oh dear, it's a constant conundrum. Wish me luck. Thanks so much for stopping by! Top posts of 2024 + 💘's Day Sewing + Whole Shop 20% off! Hi Friends! Happy New Year everyone! How is January treating all of you so far? We've had a busy, happy family time at our house this year, plus some fun time gathering with extended family in the New Year. Pretty much no snow so far this winter, which is a bummer, but still good times and good food with people that I like, makes me happy. This week I've also been looking back at 2025 - as one does this time of year. I've put together a...
Add a little Scandi hygge to your life + Clearance Sales The week between Christmas and New Years is one of my favorite weeks of the year. The Christmas-hoopla and checklists are done. Schedules are more relaxed, there’s still plenty of (probably too much) holiday food leftover to munch on, and my family likes watching all of the football bowl games so I have time to sneak away to my sewing room while they’re entertained. 😉 I haven't done tons of sewing this month - too much real life came...
Some Christmas 🎄Sewing + My Gifts to YOU!🎁 "Twas the Saturday before Christmas" and MANY things are stirring around our house. 😅 Kids are home for the holidays, I still have pretty much 100% of my gift wrapping to do, but the cards were finally put in the mail yesterday and I *think* I'm done with shopping other than last minute groceries next week. *fingers crossed* How are things going in your neck of the woods? The Quilts of Christmas Past This week I had fun taking a little stroll down...
